Eagle Bear Farm

Ever since my husband, Steve, and I started our journey in Parelli Natural Horse*Man*Ship in 2001, we could only find a few, widely-scattered students of this discipline. It was difficult to connect everyone and keep them in touch with each other. We hoped for a centralized rallying point for people of the same mindset to connect.

In late 2001, we met Lauren Kahn and Michael Varnum, whose dream was to have a farm embracing natural horse-keeping methods and Parelli Natural Horse*Man*Ship. In 2005, that dream became a reality. It was named Eagle Bear Farm in honor of Michael’s Native American heritage. We have been fortunate to be involved in and be benefactors of their dream. Eagle Bear Farm is a place you can come for interaction with like-minded people; a place of community, and the opportunity to have fun, learn, and share your knowledge.

It provides a supportive and nurturing environment to advance your horsemanship, even if you are starting at ground level. It’s conducive to starting relationships and cultivating deeper friendships with humans and horses. This is where respect and safety have the highest priority.
Did I mention fun? Plus, you’ll discover continual self-improvement in people and in the facilities. Come join us on our journey to follow our dreams at beautiful Eagle Bear Farm.

“I really like the care given to my horse at Eagle Bear. It’s as close to a natural environment as possible, with all the comforts of the horse in mind. The herd is well adjusted and respectful, including the donkey and llamas. Hay is always high quality, and the feed, supplements and treats are organic. The owner ensures the health and safety of the animals, so all I have to do is relax and enjoy the company of my horse in a beautiful and peaceful setting. In fact, my horse has never looked healthier or happier!”
Geri Dorosz, Parelli Level 3

“To me, the best place to be is a place that provides a safe haven to explore, learn, understand, and play. A place where a horse can be a horse and a human can try to get inside a horse’s skin, if for only a moment. EBF is such a place. It’s a place that nurtures both horses and humans. I consider myself extremely lucky to have met Lauren and Mike, which then opened the door to the world of Parelli, and eventually brought my horse and me to EBF for what, I hope, will be a long, long time.”
Debbie Darling, Parelli Level 2

“Eagle Bear Farm is where people from all abilities of horsemanship can meet and learn from one another. We enjoy meeting visitors and sharing stories of our journey to natural horsemanship. Eagle Bear Farm provides a place for two-legged and four-legged creatures to escape the rat race.”

“My husband and I learned riding in the traditional manner; bits, spurs, dominance, etc. When my daughter began riding two years ago, she also was learning traditionally. Discovering Eagle Bear Farm and Lauren changed all of that. Through Eagle Bear Farm and Lauren’s guidance, my husband, our 10-year-old daughter and I have true, respectful relationships with our horses. And, my daughter will not have the years of unlearning that my husband and I have had.”

“Eagle Bear Farm is situated on 20 acres of land that is a haven for both horses and riders. It is a Parelli Natural Horsemanship-based farm that promotes the respect and integrity of all of its four-legged animals, including llamas! Lauren is a fabulous teacher. Safety is always her first priority. In addition, Eagle Bear Farm has a designated horse playground with obstacles, such as a teeter-totter, car wash, tractor tires that horses step into, as well as jumps and simple mazes that provide horses the opportunity to increase their mental, emotional and physical fitness.”
